Title of Post: Student Worker

Responsible to: This is a locally funded post and you will report to the Kirk Session. Line Management will be provided by the Minister.
Hours: 37.5 hours
Main Purpose of post: To support and develop the student work at Sandyford Henderson Memorial Church

MAIN DUTIES
•Build relationships with (and between) students attending Sandyford church, the student lunches and the student cafe
•Proactively promote Sandyford student activities in the wider student body
•Plan and run Bible studies/groups for students – both Christian and non-Christian – as required
•Share the Christian faith with students
•Be part of the student cafe team on a weekly basis, and act as part of the planning team
•Facilitate communication with students, including through social media
•Develop ongoing strategy for student engagement


Additional Duties
•Provide prayer information for the weekly prayer news
•Participate in Sunday services as required
•Participate in outreach events (including ‘street stalls’)
•Maintain relationships between Sandyford and other student organisations, including UCCF, Friends International and Glasgow University Christian Union

Terms and Conditions:
•Salary is £29,535 per annum.
•Accommodation may be available at a preferential rate in a flat near to the church, subject to separate negotiation with the owner.
•This is a full-time post at 40 hours per week. The nature of the work calls for a high level of flexibility, with hours varying and including evening and weekend work.
•We expect the student worker to engage with students at our student lunches and the planning & delivery of our weekly Friday night student event programme (aka "Student Cafe")
•Dedicated office space (and other meeting spaces) are provided at the Church.
•Normal holiday entitlement will be 25 days per calendar year and also 9 public holidays. The Line Manager will give the dates of statutory holidays at the start of each year. All proposed holidays should be agreed in advance by the Line Manager.
•Out of pocket expenses will be paid by the Treasurer on a monthly basis on receipt of relevant receipts.
•Membership of the Disclosure Scotland PVG Scheme will be required.
•In order to comply with the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996, the successful applicant will be asked to provide document(s) confirming their eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.
