Spiritual RetreatsPublished 24 Jan 2022

If you feel that you would benefit from a short break away from the stresses of everyday life, you might want to consider of the three day retreats which are run twice a year by Ruth Forsythe, the Presbytery’s Spiritual Formation Advisor.
The retreats, which are funded by the Presbytery, are held midweek at The Bield in Perthshire and are open to anyone in the ministry of the church.
Ruth says that the retreats are held in silence and offer an opportunity to step aside and listen to what God is saying to us. “In our everyday lives we can all too easily become addicted to doing things and we often feel guilty if we are not busy. The retreats provide both the time and the space to reflect in a peaceful and restful environment.
“I find that people really appreciate the silence. Being silent helps us to hear more clearly and enhances our concentration. People on the retreat also appreciate having the opportunity to meditate in a supportive place.”
Ruth has received a great deal of positive feedback with those who have attended the retreats commenting on the benefit of being able to take time out from their everyday lives to reflect and meditate.
The next retreat is scheduled for 26 to 28 April. Ruth would be pleased to provide further information and can be contacted at rforsythe@churchofscotland.org.uk.
