Superintendence

What We Do

This forward-thinking committee helps Presbytery to fulfil its duty of providing general pastoral oversight and superintendence of congregations but it is much more than this! The Committee

  • Is responsible for the support of congregational life throughout the Presbytery, carried out in the following areas.
  • Overseeing that Presbytery and congregations comply with the Safeguarding Policy of the Church of Scotland and encouraging the promotion of good practice through training and support.
  • Planned programmes of record inspection as specified by Church Law and procedure.
  • Responding to particular needs and requests for support and encouragement. Being the point of referral for issues of conflict in congregations.
  • The administration of the Acts of the Assembly relating to the discipline of Ministers, Deacons and Elders.
  • The monitoring of congregational relationships with community agencies such as registrars, funeral directors and crematoria.
