Early Christmas Gift for Lodging House MisssionPublished 05 Dec 2022

Deacon Claire Herbert was delighted to receive, on behalf of LHM, a cheque for £10,049 from Sharon Mitchell, Lady's captain at Cathcart Castle Golf Club. LHM were chosen by Sharon as her charity of the year back in January. The club have held a number of events throughout the year raising awareness of homelessness and collecting donations to support the work of LHM.
One of the ways funds were raised was from an event that Professional (Stephen Duncan) & Assistant Professional (Nikki McLeish) undertook at the end of June - they played 100 holes in a day. That's 5 rounds and 10 holes to the non-golfer. It was an epic challenge, they started at 5am and finished at 9pm! Which raised the fantastic sum of just over £4000.
"LHM is a Glasgow based day centre for people with lived experience of homelessness, vulnerability and social isolation." explained Claire, "Over the cold, dark winter months our service is in high demand and through the amazing work of supporters such as Cathcart Castle Golf Club, we can continue to provide support when it is most needed. We are grateful to Sharon and all the golfers who contributed to raising such a significant donation. "
"I've had a busy year as Lady Captain with lots of golf events and social events." Sharon recalls, "It was important to the Club to support a local charity where we can see our donations making a difference."
