From Rev Fiona Gardner in Hyderabad
Bill Hewitt, Tom Pollock, Bill Gray and myself arrived at the Diocese of Hyderabad today about 5 hours ago.
We left Glasgow yesterday, and flew to Dubai. There, it was raining, would you believe! We seem to have taken our Glasgow weather with us. We then got our connecting flight to Karachi airport. We had curry for breakfast on the plane at 6am!
Just arriving at the airport is quite something, as there is so much hustle and bustle, colour and noise.
Our hosts arranged very comfortable transport for us, to take us to Hyderabad, and this journey introduced us to the amazingly beautiful art covered buses and trucks of Karachi! Driving here however, is maybe not for us, as there has been some very innovative manoeuvring.
We have been very warmly welcomed by Bishop Kaleem John and his wife Rebecca. They have been so thoughtful in arranging our accommodation, we couldn't have asked for more. And they have generously shown us much hospitality, and it has been wonderful to start to get to know each other better.
We are now going to sleep, thankful for our safe arrival, and excited about the plans to meet more of the Christian community here tomorrow. Thank you to everyone for your prayers for our visit. They have been much appreciated. Fiona
