examines the strategy for the deployment, repair and maintenance of church buildings;
encourages congregations to look positively at their buildings as a mission resource and seeks ways to adapt and develop them further to this end;
advises on repair procedures and value for money and on its own initiative recommends, gives guidance upon and promotes building works necessary to maintain church property in good heart;
supervises Quinquennial Fabric Inspections;
operates with a panel of voluntary advisors and the Buildings Officer who are not always members of The Property Committee;
considers applications for fabric repairs above the current threshold as outlined in the Procedure for Buildings Work Applications to church premises and manses, processes these on behalf of Presbytery and gives advice through The Buildings Officer on the works proposed; and
liaises with the Mission Strategy Committee on the strategic implications of congregational applications to carry out work on church buildings.
